The name 'Republica de Venezuela' replaced 'Estados Unidos de Venezuela' on all coinage from 1953. Bolivar fractionals and multiples continued to be silver until 1964, at which point they were converted to nickel.
The coin shown is a 1986 five centimos struck in Werdohl (Germany) for Venezuela; the reverse is altered somewhat from earlier issues, and the composition was changed to nickel-clad steel and copper-nickel-clad steel for the years 1983 and 1986 respectively.
Recorded mintage: 500,000,000.
Specification: copper-nickel-clad steel.
