This specimen was lot 25697 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $5,462.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 5 Bolivares 1903, AU55 NGC, very sharply struck with medium gray patina, an attractive original example of this scarce date and one of the finest we can remember seeing in the market." This type was struck until 1936. The later dates are common but this product of the Philadelphia mint is scarce.
