Venezuela 1901 1/4 bolivar

from Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 7377

This specimen was lot 7377 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $423. The catalog description^[1] noted, "VENEZUELA. 1/4 Bolivar (25 Centimos), 1901. NGC AU-53. Faint periwinkle tone. Good strike with attractive luster." This type was struck until 1936. This date is a product of the Paris mint. Like most Venezuelan issues from early in the century, it is expensive in high grade.

Recorded mintage: 393,000.

Specification: 1.25 g, 0.835 fine silver, 20 mm diameter.
