Though Venezuela declared independence in 1810 and fully routed Spanish troops from the region by 1821, it was not until the dissolution of Gran Colombia in 1830 that Venezuela became fully a sovereign nation. The first specimen was lot 1761 and sold on Apr 9, 2010 at a Daniel Frank Sedwick LLC auction for $46. The auction catalog description reads: "Venezuela, copper 1/4 centavo, 1843. Recorded mintage: 3,841,957.

Specification: 3 g, copper, 19.25 mm diameter, the first specimen 3.1 grams.
