This specimen was lot 75821 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "VANUATU. 10000 Vatu, 1981. Llantrisant Mint. NGC MS-69. An alluring and handsome example yielding rich luster and handsome nearly flawless appeal." Vanuatu was formerly the New Hebrides islands, a condominium of France and Great Britain, and obtained her independence in 1980. The economy is dependent on exports of frozen fish. What appears to be hairlines on this example are actually die polish lines.
