This specimen was lot 997 in Jean Elsen sale 159 (Brussels, June 2024), where it sold for €460 (about US$591 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

Zeer zeldzaam. Zeer Fraai. (lordship of Valkenburg, held by Philip the Bold 1389-1404, silver double groat, circa 1396-1403. Obverse: Lion seated left, wearing a scarf with the Burgundian arms; reverse: Burgundian arms over a long cross. Extremely rare, very fine.)

(Philip the Bold had held Valkenburg as collateral for a loan since 1389. In 1396 he decided to have Flemish nobles and bone bearers minted there, which could be distinguished from the Bruges coins by a special feature (a button). Production remained very limited and the Valkenburg mint was finally closed in 1403.)"

Today, Valkenburg is a tourist town in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands, with a population of 16,365 as of 2021.
