United States 2017-W 100 dollars
This specimen was lot 3221 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,428 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Vereinegte Staaten. 100 Dollars 2017. American Liberty - 225 Jahres United States Mint. Polierte Platte. Im Originaletui. (United States, one hundred dollars of 2017, American Liberty series, 225th anniversary of the mint. Choice Proof, In original box.)"
This design aroused a minor controversy upon its first appearance as it was the first time an African American woman had been used as a model for Liberty.
Recorded mintage: 35,575 sold as of June 2022 against a mintage limit of 100,000.
