In 1999, the United States mint began a program of commemorative quarters featuring each of the fifty states. Five designs were issued each year 1999-2008. In 2002, the states featured were Tennessee (shown here), Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana and Mississippi. The program was popular enough that it was expanded to include the territories in 2009 and the national parks in 2010.
Recorded mintage: 286,468,000 at Denver plus 361,600,000 at Philadelphia plus 3,084,185 clad proofs and 892,229 silver proofs from San Francisco.
Specification: 5.67 g, copper-nickel clad copper, 24.3 mm diameter, reeded edge.
