This specimen was lot 3340 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "UNITED STATES: AR dollar, Denver, 2001-D, Native American-Bison, label signed by U. S. Mint Director Jay W. Johnson, a lovely example! PCGS graded MS69." This NCLT sold out in four days to benefit the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) of the Smithsonian Institution.
Recorded mintage: 227,131 plus 272,869 proofs from Philadelphia.
Specification: 26.73 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38.1 mm diameter, reeded edge.
