This specimen was lot 3484 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 30 € (about US$39 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Turcos y Caicos. 1995. Juegos Olímpicos - Atlanta '96. AG. Proof." The Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean have a population of about 45,000. The economy is dominated by tourism, offshore finance and fishing. The US dollar is the main currency used on the islands. As a dependency of Great Britain, it is not permitted to participate in the Olympics. Olympic NCLT's in 1995 included KM 189 (hurdling), 190, 193, 195, 197 (shown here), 199, 201, 203, 205 and 207.
