This specimen was lot 711 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $269.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mehmet VI, 1918-1924, AV 25 kurush, Kostantiniye, AH1336 year 5, extremely rare date, mintage of only 819 pieces, few of which have survived, messy mount removal on the reverse, VF to EF, RRR." Muhammed VI, the last Ottoman sultan, reigned 1918-24 until his deposition by Kemal Ataturk. During his brief tenure, gold 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 kurush were issued both in regular milled format as shown here and in wide monnaie de luxe format.
