Turkey has, since World War Two, a history of inflation. This new lira superseded the old lira at the rate of 1,000,000 to one in 2003. It bears the stern visage of Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic. This type was introduced in 2009. The most recent date mentioned in the SCWC is 2013 but later dates exist. As of August 2023, US$1 = 27.16 lira, making this coin worth about US$0.036.
