This type was struck one year only in the name of the Ottoman sultan Abdul Aziz and Muhammad al-Sadiq Bey. Tunisia was under the control of the Ottomans for centuries until lack of financial resources forced it into dependence on France, which made it a protectorate in AH 1298 / 1881 AD. Up to this time, both the name of the Ottoman sultan and the local ruler (Bey) appear on the coins.
Recorded mintage: 12,000,000.
Specification: 7.5g, copper.
Catalog reference: KM 156.
