Sincona sale 23, lot 3214

This specimen was lot 3214 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,136 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TUNISIA, Ahmed Bei, 1929-1942 100 Francs 1931. Sehr selten. Nur 33 Exemplare geprägt. Fast FDC. (protectorate of Tunisia, Ahmed Bey (1929-42), one hundred francs of 1931, very rare, choice uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1930-37 but only the 1930, 1932 and 1935 are collectible. This issue was struck to the standard of the French hundred francs of 1935-36.

Recorded mintage: 33.

Specification: 6.55 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.189 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.54 g.
