Transylvania 1673-NE 6 denars KM-437
This specimen was lot 32923 in Heritage Sale 3115 (Chicago, May 2024), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "Transylvania: Michael I Apafi 6 Denar (Sechser) 1673-NE AU55 NGC, Aiud (Strassburg am Mieresch) mint. Arms of Kronstadt on the reverse. An enticing example of a sought-after Transylvanian minor that infrequently surfaces at auction. This is a one-of-a-kind at the grading companies." This denomination was struck at several mints (including Hermannstadt) using various designs. A "zwolfer" (12 denars) also exists. This date comes with and without the initials "NE". Transylvanian autonomy ended soon after the issue of this coin.
