Künker Auction 425, lot 1281

This specimen was lot 1281 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €11,000 (about US$15,576 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"EUROPÄISCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · UNGARN, SIEBENBÜRGEN, FÜRSTEN Gabriel Bethlen, 1613-1629. Dukat 1616, Klausenburg. Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit Kalpak (Pelzhaube)//Das Familienwappen Bethlen, umher der gekrönte, sich in den Schwanz beißende Drache, unten Stadtwappen von Klausenburg. GOLD. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Herrlicher Prägeglanz, min. gewellt, üblicher kl. Stempelfehler, min. Randfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 306, Osnabrück 2018, Nr. 5413. (principality of Transylvania, Gabriel Bethlen, 1613-1629, ducat of 1616, Klausenburg mint. Obverse: armored and hatted bust right; reverse: arms of Bethlen surrounded by a crowned dragon biting its tail, below the city arms of Klausenburg. Rare in this quality, cabinet example, superb luster, minor die defects and edge defects, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
