This specimen was lot 43336 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $3,720. The catalog description[1] noted, "TRANSYLVANIA. Ducat, 1588. Hermannstadt (Sibiu) Mint. Sigismund Bathori. PCGS AU-58. An alluring, near-Mint specimen hailing from the a region full of gothic lore, this example retains charming brilliance among the fields and provides an olive-yellow hue. From the John P. Burnham Collection." This type was struck 1581-94 and 1598 but is rare despite the many years in production. It is listed in the SCWC under its Friedberg number.
