Stack's Bowers 2022 NYINC sale, lot 8365

This specimen was lot 8365 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "TONGA. 100 Pa'angas, 1975. Taufa'ahau Tupou IV. NGC PROOF-66 Ultra Cameo. A brilliant Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This NCLT was one of a series celebrating the centennial of the Tongan constitution. Other issues included 5 pa'angas (KM 50), 10 pa'angas (KM 51), 20 pa'angas (KM 52), 25 pa'angas (KM 53), 50 pa'angas (KM 54) and 75 pa'angas (KM 55) in silver and gold.

Recorded mintage: 205 plus 105 proofs.

Specification: 20 g, 0.917 fine gold.
