This specimen was lot 53504 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Tibet. 5 Sho, BE 15-50 (1916). PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield. Though some minor peripheral striking weakness is noted, this wholesome specimen nevertheless offers a charming light gray hue with some hints of russet toning." This type was struck years 47-50, 58-60 and depicts the lion looking up.
