Thorn 1655-HL 4 ducats Fr-63
This specimen was lot 32144 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $11,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Poland: Thorn. Johann Casimir 4 Ducats 1655 AU Details (Removed From Jewelry, Tooled) NGC. Obv. Crowned bust of Johann Casimir right wearing collar and badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Rev. View of the city of Thorn across the river Vistula, angels in clouds above. Nice details, with field tooling and reverse legends re-engraved. Very rare." This rare type accompanied equally rare six ducats, five ducats, three ducats (Fr-64) and double ducat (Fr-64a).
