Thailand BE2472 50 satang
The first specimen was lot 994 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $199.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "THAILAND: Rama VII, 1925-1935, AR ½ baht, BE2472 (1929), NGC graded MS64." The second specimen was lot 1008 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[2] noted, "THAILAND: Rama VII, 1925-1935, AR 50 satang, BE2472 (1929), PCGS graded MS64+, ex Don Erickson Collection." The early coinage of Thailand, or Siam, is a confusing mix of atts, fuangs, salungs and bahts. In 1908, the system was simplified to 100 satang = one baht. This type is listed for the one year only but its prodigious mintage means that many survived. The denomination was not issued again until 1946.
