Szechuan (Sichuan) Province is in the south central part of China, and is an important economic power in the country. The capital is Chengdu. In the early 20th Century it, along with Tibet, was made a special administrative district, acknowledging the dominance of non-Han Chinese people in the region.

The specimen shown was lot 60657 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $1,554. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Szechuan. 5 Cash, Year 1 (1912). 民國元年軍政府造四川銅幣當制錢五文。Brown. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.”
