This specimen was lot 2031 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $341. The catalog description[1] noted, "Switzerland. 250 Francs, 1991-B Choice Brilliant Unc. 700 Years of Confederation. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." This is the first coin of this denomination struck in Switzerland. At the current exchange rate (December 2016: US$1 = 1.017 CHF) and price of gold ($1,160/oz), the face value ($246) and melt value ($268) are approaching, where the coin could theoretically circulate.
Recorded mintage: 296,741 (KM 71.1) plus 193,259.
Specification: 8 g, 0.900 fine gold, .2315 troy oz AGW.
