This type was struck at the Bern mint 1893-1941. The design was superseded by KM 4.2b, struck 1942-46, and KM 47, struck 1948-74. The denomination is no longer issued. Many of the dates from the twentieth century are very common and this one is no exception. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.
