This specimen was lot 40396 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $12,650. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 100 Francs, 1925-B. NGC MS-64. The Only Large Size Latin Monetary Union Gold Coin of Switzerland. RARE. Mintage of only 5,000 pieces." This large and glamourous coin, the only issue of its size, has always been rare and expensive but never difficult to obtain for those who can afford it. The accompanying twenty francs is plentiful in all grades.

Specification: 32.25 g, 0.900 fine gold, .933 troy oz AGW.
