This type was struck at the Bern mint 1918-19 as a wartime substitute for the usual copper-nickel issue. The design is still in use and struck to the original 1879 specification. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.

Recorded mintage: 6,000,000.

Specification: 3 g, brass, 19.1 mm diameter, plain edge.
