This specimen was lot 30278 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $7,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "A seldom-Rivalled Gem Gustaf IV Adolf Riksdaler 1796-OL, MS66 NGC. A stunningly beautiful coin with bold features and rich cabinet patina. The surfaces are virtually blemish-free and are fully brilliant. Easily the nicest we have seen of this type and perhaps the finest known. Very rare in this superb quality." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler. This type was struck 1796-97 and is reasonably available in circulated condition.
