Stack's Bowers sale of the L. E. Bruun Collection, lot 1268

This specimen was lot 1268 in Stack's Bowers sale of the L. E. Bruun Collection (Copenhagen, September 2024), where it sold for €28,800 (about US$31,916 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Handsome Near-Gem Ducat Featuring Shimmering Luster, SWEDEN. Ducat, 1762. Stockholm Mint. Adolf Fredrik. NGC MS-64. Mintmaster: Albrekt Lindberg (AL). Engraver: Daniel Fehrman. A handsome near-Gem, this enticing Ducat delivers rich luster, with shimmering beauty and allure throughout. Nicely struck as well, this most pleasing example certainly does not lack for blustery beauty. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922). Ex: Alex A. Fröling Collection (Stockholm - 1857) Lot # 443."

This type was struck without interruption 1751-71 yet remains rare. The highest mintage date is 1767 with 5,657 pieces.

Recorded mintage: 1,962.

Specification: 3.48 g, 0.976 fine gold, 22.3 mm diameter, this specimen 3.46 g.
