This specimen was lot 11222 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €576 (about US$600). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Öre, 1522. Stockholm Mint. Gustav Vasa. NGC EF Details--Planchet Flaw. Minted with the date 1522 but issued between 1524-1527. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." Gustav Vasa permanently separated Sweden from Denmark-Norway and ended the Kalmar Union. His reign is considered the beginning of modern Swedish history. Among other reforms, he made one gyllen = 18 öre. This type is listed for 1522-23 and 1528-30 in many varieties. The obverse figure is of medieval king Eric, who was canonized after his death.
