Aachen in 1547; the Abbey of Stavelot is visible between Limburg and Salm

This specimen was lot 1098 in Jean Elsen sale 147 (Brussels, June 2021), where it sold for €650 (about US$950 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STAVELOT, Abbaye, Christophe de Manderscheid (1546-1576), AR rixdaler, 1567. Deuxième type. Au titre de Maximilien II. D/ L'écu écartelé de l'abbé dans un cartouche surmonté de deux heaumes à cimier coupant la légende. R/ Aigle impérial couronné. Rare Frappe faible. Beau à Très Beau. (abbey of Stavelot, Christophe de Manderscheid, 1546-76, silver rixdaler of 1567, second type, struck in the name of Maximilian II. Obverse: quartered arms of the abbey in a cartouche with two helmets above interrupting the legend; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Rare, weakly struck, Fine - Very Fine.)"

Of the five specimens listed on CoinArchives since 2005, all were dated 1567. The next issue, Dav-8664, featured the armored bust of the emperor on the reverse.
