Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. This crown (five shillings) was issued to commemorate the centennial of Rhodes' birth and is among the final issues of the colony which was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.500 fine silver, .454 troy oz ASW, edge lettered "1853 OUT OF VISION CAME REALITY 1953", designed by Mary Gillick and T. H. Paget.
