South Korea 1988 25000 won Fr-14
This specimen was part of lot 4045 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), which sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "KOREA, SOUTH. Six Piece Proof Set, 1988. Olympic Commemoratives. 6 pieces in set. Includes: 1,000 to 25,000 Won coins all struck to commemorate the 24th Olympiad in Seoul. Housed in original case of issue and with certificate of authenticity." The six pieces in the set are only a portion of the commemoratives issued to market and pay for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. This one honors the see saw, an ancient Korean pastime considered suitable for elegant women.
