Sincona sale 102, lot 5463

These specimens were lot 5463 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$181 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Solothurn. Stadt und Kanton. Batzen 1638, Solothurn. Zwei Exemplare von demselben Stempelpaar. Selten. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, batzens of 1638, Solothurn mint, two examples from the same dies. Rare, Very Fine, two pieces.)"

This type was struck 1622-24, 1630-32, 1637-42 in numerous varieties. St. Ursus is mentioned ("S+ VRSVS+ MART+ 1638") but not depicted on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.9 g, billon, 25 mm diameter.
