This specimen was issued by the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands, especially Guadalcanal, were the scene of heavy fighting during World War Two. Coinage commenced in 1977. This coin is a product of the Franklin Mint and was issued 1977-83. The reverse depicts a native mask from Santa Isabel island. As of August 2019, US$1 = SBD $8.13.
Recorded mintage: 6,000 plus 624 for sets plus 1,031 proofs.
