Slovakia 1944 50 halierov
This specimen was part of lot 1899 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$302 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Slowakische Republik, 1939-1945. 50 Halierov (Heller) 1944, Kremnitz. Lot von 2 Stück. Selten. Vorzüglich und FDC. (2). (Slovak Republic, 1939-45, fifty heller of 1944, Kremnitz mint. Two pieces, rare, Extremely fine and uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1943-44 by the Nazi-dominated puppet regime of Slovakia, separated from Czechoslovakia when the Nazis occupied Bohemia and Moravia in 1939. Slovakia was reunited with Bohemia-Moravia in 1945 by the Soviet Red Army. This example realized nine times the catalog value.
