Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1413

This specimen was lot 1413 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "QING: Tong Zhi, 1862-1874, AE 10 cash, Ili mint, Xinjiang Province, Chinese inscription tóng zhì zhòng bao, with dang shí above and below on reverse, boo-i in Manchu either side, cast in red copper, graded 85 by GBCA Grading Company, VF, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection, ex Teutoburger Münzauktion Auction 99, Lot 134. Part of a series of pattern 10 cash coins in large format cast in Beijing at the Board of Revenue mint with various provincial Manchu mint names." This may be the plate specimen in Numista under "10 Cash - Tongzhi Zhongbao; Ili; trial strike".
