Sikh Empire VS1833 paisa KM-76
This specimen was lot 948 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "SIKH EMPIRE: AE falus (paisa), Multan, VS1833, citing Guru Gobind Singhjiyo (above the word falus and the full date) on the obverse, mint name on the reverse above the words falus mubarak; struck during the first Sikh occupation of Multan (1772-80), F-VF, RRR. Struck from the same dies as the example sold in our Auction 44, lot 762." The SCWC lists this type for VS 1834 only. Falus was the Arabic name and paisa was the Hindu name for any low value copper coin.
