Shantung (Shandong) Province lies along the coast, south of Beijing, and is both a populous and rich territory. A modern mint operated from 1905-1906. The specimen shown was lot 60498 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $11,352. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Shantung. 10 Cash, ND (1904-05). 山東光緒元寶當制錢十文。橫山東坐龍。NGC MS-63 BN. Ex: A.M. Tracey Woodward Collection Ex: The Frank Robinson Collection."
