The first specimen was lot 2159 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland. Bawbee, ND. Billon. Mary, Queen of Scots, 1542-67. PCGS graded EF-40." The second specimen was lot 58394 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[2] noted, "SCOTLAND. Bawbee, ND (1542-58). Edinburgh Mint. Mary. NGC AU-58." In the second half of the seventeenth century, the bawbee was sixpence Scots or half an English penny.
