This specimen was lot 2288 in Goldberg sale 115 (Los Angeles, February 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland. Half Bawbee, ND. James V, 1513-1542. Third coinage. Crowned thistle dividing 1-5. Reverse: Crown on s[al]tire cross, without lis. Fine to Very Fine." The bawbee was six Scottish pence, making the half bawbee equal to threepence. The denomination was introduced in 1538.
