Schaffhausen 1622 12 kreuzer
These specimens were lot 5438 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), which sold for 90 CHF (about US$136 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Schaffhausen. Halbdicken 1622, Schaffhausen. Beide Varianten mit Jahreszahl auf der Vorderseite bzw. auf der Rückseite. Lot von 2 Stück. Schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, Schaffhausen, half dickens of 1622, Schafhausen mint. one with the date of the obverse and the other with the date on the reverse. Fine-Very Fine, two pieces.)"
Production of this denomination was divided between KM 29 (date obverse) and KM 30 (date reverse), both of which are shown here. Klippe half dickens (KM 31) also exist for 1622. The city arms depict an ibex leaping, sometimes by itself or out of a castle window (as here). One dicken was 24 kreuzer.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rather scarce.
