Schaffhausen (1530) 1/2 batzen
This specimen was lot 5418 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Schaffhausen. Halbbatzen o. J. (um 1530), Schaffhausen. Antiqua Buchstaben. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, Schaffhausen, undated half batzen, circa 1530, Schaffhausen mint, Antiqua lettering. Rare, Good Very Fine.)"
Numista attributes this undated type to the first quarter of the sixteenth century. Examples dated 1525 and 1573 are known. The batzen was four kreuzer. The city arms depict an ibex leaping, sometimes by itself or out of a castle window (as here).
