Künker Auction 441, lot 4482

This specimen was lot 4482 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €750 (about US$1,032 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KÖNIGREICH Johann, 1854-1873. Vereinstaler 1871 B. Prachtexemplar. Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung Jürgen und Erika Schmidt, Bovenden. Exemplar der Slg. Johann Max Böttcher, Auktion Möller 42, Kassel 2006, Nr. 1602. (kingdom of Saxony, union thaler of 1871. Choice example, uncirculated.)"

For 1871, the SCWC notes KM 1214 (shown here), KM 1223 (for the mines) and KM 1230 (victory in the Franco-Prussian War). This type was struck 1861-71 and is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,687,000.
