Sincona sale 9, lot 4051

This specimen was lot 4051 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 3600 CHF (about US$4,553 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen-Altenburg, Herzogtum Ernst, 1853-1908. 20 Mark 1887, Berlin. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Altenburg, Ernest, 1853-1908, twenty mark of 1887, Berlin mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was issued 1887 only and is rare.

Recorded mintage: 15,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
