This specimen was lot 33648 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAUDI ARABIA. Riyal, AH 1367 (1948). Mecca Mint. Abd Al-Aziz Bin Sa'ud. PCGS MS-64. This bright and wholesome near-Gem displays a vibrant luster, with soft supple toning and a general frosty eye appeal." This type was struck AH 1354, 1367 and 1370. The specification is virtually identical to the British rupee.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 11.60 g, 0.917 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter.
