This specimen was lot 35055 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Romania: Republic gold Proof "Union of 1918" 500 Lei 2008 PR69 Deep Cameo PCGS. Struck for the 90th anniversary of the Union of 1918." The union commemorated here was the addition of Bessarabia (lost to the USSR in 1940) and Transylvania to Romania.
