Rajkot 1945 mohur
The first specimen was lot 50182 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $822. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rajkot. Mohur, 1945. NGC MS-61. Possibly a restrike from 1962." The British mohur was 11.66 g, 0.917 fine gold. The second specimen was lot 740 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[2] noted, "RAJKOT: Dharmendra Singh, 1930-1948, AR medallic mohur, 1945, original strike, a fantastic reflective mint state example! PCGS graded MS66. The original can be quickly distinguished by the trident, with the middle prong having a solid diamond about halfway along, whereas the restrike has a hollow circle instead of a solid diamond. Incorrectly identified on holder." The SCWC states all the silver examples are later restrikes sold to collectors.
