This specimen was lot 2833 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $53.55. The catalog description[1] noted, "PUDUKKOTTAI: Martanda Bhairana, 1886-1928, AE cash, ND (1886-1947), seated goddess Brihadamba facing, much red original mint luster! NGC graded MS63 RB." We don't know when this copper cash was struck during this king's long reign but the catalogs tell us that 5,000,000 were made. It is common. The state was merged into India in 1948 and the king lost his sovereignty.
