This type was struck in 1959 along with thirty centavos, sixty centavos and three escudos. The final colonial issues of 1958-61 were based on the escudo instead of the rupee. In 1962, India invaded and annexed the Portuguese enclaves of Goa, Damao and Diu and the series ended.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.
