Sincona sale 87, lot 2859

This specimen was lot 2859 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,010 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN, Republik. 200 Zlotych 2005 MW, Warschau. Solidarnosc. NGC PF69 ULTRA CAMEO. Mit Zertifikat. (republic of Poland, two hundred zlotych of 2005, Warsaw mint, for Solidarity. With certificate.)"

Other 200 zlotych for 2005 included KM Y536, KM Y538, KM Y887 and KM Y889. Wikipedia comments, "Following Poland's transition to liberal capitalism in the 1990s and the extensive privatisation of state assets, Solidarity's membership declined significantly; by 2010, 30 years after being founded, the union had lost more than 90% of its original membership."
